Dream Temple
Type: Magical Realm (Dream/Vision Location) Region: Unknown (Supernatural Plane) Status: RESOLVED (Vision Escaped Session 30) Tags: #location/magical #location/mysterious
Description
Vast supernatural temple accessible only through shared dreams/visions, not physical travel. Multi-chambered realm beginning at mountainside ledge over endless chasm, progressing through Hall of Mirrors, Gardens Chamber, Hall of Statues, The Depths labyrinth, and Central Chamber. Each chamber contains puzzle or trial requiring problem-solving to advance. Party successfully escaped Session 30 after defeating Khorrak the Horned Dread and solving dragon's forgiveness riddle in Central Chamber. Connection to Bane Watchers abilities or other supernatural forces unclear - purpose appears to be testing truth, courage, memory, passage, and forgiveness.
Geography
[Keep all existing sections: Mountainside Ledge, Hall of Mirrors, Gardens Chamber, Hall of Statues, The Depths unchanged]
Central Chamber (Chamber 5 - Final Test)
Layout:
- Large chamber with big dragon statue in centre
- Four pedestals arranged around dragon statue
- Each pedestal has dragon talon/claw designed to grip items
- Dragon statue initially has closed wings
- 10ft ceiling
- Inscriptions in dwarfish on pedestals
Dragon Statue:
- Large ornate dragon at centre
- Wings closed initially, open when gems placed
- Neck articulates to look at each person simultaneously
- Stone face becomes animated
- Eyes glow blue when shedding tear
The Four Pedestals:
- Each has dragon talon/claw
- Grip gems when placed
- Surrounding dragon in square formation
- Purpose: Hold dragon chamber gems (keys)
Puzzle Mechanics:
- Party arrived with 6 of 8 gems (Lady Odonia of Galantri lost 2 when transformed)
- Placed 4 gems in 4 talons (6 available - chose which 4)
- Dragon statue animated when gems placed:
- Wings opened
- Neck moved, looked at each person simultaneously
- Spoke in eerie voice (each heard own language)
The Riddle:
- Dragon asked: "What is it that cannot be obtained through mere strength but requires the shedding of something more precious?"
- Warning: "I'm weary, answer only once, or be doomed forever"
- Extended claw palm-upward (suggesting physical offering)
- Party answered: "Forgiveness"
- Dragon responded: "Show me" (required demonstration, not just words)
Solution:
- Elvva Beltavar demonstrated genuine forgiveness to Elik'r Stormswallow
- Said: "I forgive you for killing me that one time. It's not your fault anymore. I no longer blame you for my death"
- Referred to Session 22 when Elik'r Stormswallow failed to save her during Belendar ambush
- Dragon judged forgiveness authentic
- Stone face glowed blue (faint at first, becoming brighter)
- Eye glowed blue progressively brighter
- Shed single tear from one eye
- Tear landed in Elvva Beltavar's hand, formed into gem (Dragon's Tear)
- Walls started feeling like they were disappearing
- Vision ended - party woke in physical bodies
Exit Mechanism:
- No door or portal visible
- Reality itself dissolved when puzzle solved
- Party members transported back to physical bodies
- Woke in separate locations: Stormhold Keep (four members), Belendar (Elvva Beltavar)
Items Lost/Gained:
- All 8 dragon chamber gems disappeared upon waking
- Exception: Dragon's Tear remained in Elvva Beltavar's possession
- Only item from entire vision that persisted to reality
- Appears alive inside, light moves and shifts

History
[Keep existing section, add Session 30]
Known Visits:

- Who created temple and why?
- Connection to Bane Watchers abilities? (Possible but not confirmed)

Session 29 - 20 September 2025 - [Keep existing Session 29 text unchanged]
Session 30 - 28 September 2025 - Party's final session in temple. Combat with Khorrak the Horned Dread commenced immediately. Lady Odonia of Galantri crushed under falling debris when Khorrak crashed through wall, unconscious carrying 2 gems and glowing orb beacon. Two-phase battle: Phase 1 ended with Ser Tessell Highfrost's Guiding Bolt (18 radiant), Khorrak resurrected in eerie green glow with enraged state targeting Ser Tessell Highfrost. Phase 2 saw Khorrak use Legendary Action teleportation, deal critical hit reducing ToooAh to 0 HP, get restrained by Elvva Beltavar's Earthen Grasp, finally killed by Elik'r Stormswallow's Fire Bolt (14 fire). Body disintegrated into green ooze that mysteriously disappeared and seeped under rock transforming Lady Odonia of Galantri (granting Warg ability, body whisped away in green smoke). Party lifted debris but Odonia's transformation meant loss of 2 gems and orb. Collected seventh gem from final visited chamber (bottom left), navigated maze to Central Chamber with 6 remaining gems. Placed 4 gems in dragon talons, statue animated opening wings and speaking riddle in each person's native language: "What is it that cannot be obtained through mere strength but requires the shedding of something more precious?" Warning: "I'm weary, answer only once, or be doomed forever." Party answered "Forgiveness," dragon responded "Show me." Elvva Beltavar demonstrated genuine forgiveness to Elik'r Stormswallow for failing to save her Session 22: "I forgive you for killing me that one time. It's not your fault anymore. I no longer blame you for my death." Dragon judged authenticity, eye glowed progressively brighter blue, shed single tear landing in Elvva Beltavar's hand forming Dragon's Tear gem. Walls dissolved, vision ended. All party members woke in physical bodies: four at Stormhold Keep, Elvva Beltavar in Belendar. All dragon chamber gems disappeared except Dragon's Tear (only item from vision that persisted). Party levelled to 6.
Notes
- Dream-like reality where normal physics don't apply (endless loop in chasm, mirrors reform when broken, portal mechanics)
- Colours and perception distorted (can't determine if day/night, reality uncertain)
- Cannot wake voluntarily until final test solved
- Co'narr 'Banewatcher' Hyborian's ability to enter/exit freely never explained
- "Steve" appears independently to Elik'r Stormswallow, provides accurate tactical intelligence
- Temple tests five virtues: Truth (mirrors), silence/patience (gardens), wisdom/elements (statues), courage/survival (labyrinth), forgiveness/compassion (central chamber)
- Five party members experiencing identical vision simultaneously across two physical locations
- Only first gem awakened guardian (Khorrak) - design feature preventing multiple guardian encounters
- Physical time passage in real world vs temple time unclear (party was asleep one night)
- Dragon's Tear unique: Only item from entire vision that remained in physical reality - suggests special significance or different nature than maze gems
- Forgiveness theme: Final test required authentic demonstration, not just words - dragon capable of judging sincerity
- Vision escape: Automatic upon solving final test - walls dissolved, consciousness returned to bodies
- Green ooze mystery: Khorrak's remains disappeared from floor, seeped to Odonia creating transformation - connection to Bane unclear
- Incomplete exploration: Two dragon chambers (S, SE) never visited, central room gems (4 used of 6 available)
